The start and premise of The Host is promising, but as the story develops, the black and white nature of Wanda becomes a bit tiresome and irritating. I was intrigued by the potential laid within the story, but disappointed in its lack of fruition. In its simplicity of interpretation, it sidelines character growth and in the end does not learn the lessons it aims to teach.

This is the same author that writes the tween vampire books I tore through recently.
It's advertised as being her first 'adult' novel, but I fail to see any difference between the polite avoidance of anything sexual or violent in her other books aimed at a younger demographic and this one.
*yawn* It's such a great idea and the story really was interesting and well written but there's absolutely no grit or darkness or anything complex about her characters.
