I remember my 6th grade teacher reading this book to us in class. It is now 12 or 13 years later, and The Giver is even more potent than it was then. I really cannot believe the society we live actually recommends this book to children. I can't believe my 6th grade teacher read this to us. But I am happy she did. Now i realize how much this novel has shaped the way I have thought over the years. An outstanding story that I hope will continue to be a part of the lives of young people. Terrifying,

When I picked this up I kept feeling like I'd read this book many years ago. I could not remember it for the life of me so I read it again, and yes, I did read it years ago and it was a lovely book then and still is now.

An interesting and quick read. Good story. I like how the settings and characters were developed during the novel. It stops a little quick for my taste, but I guess thats to get you to read the second book in the series. Which I most likely will.
