I'd listened to this audiobook some years back and remembered it as a spooky end of the world story. I referred to it while talking to my daughter one day which made her want to listen to it. It wasn't as spooky as I remembered and the ending made no sense to me. Daughter enjoyed it though.

The Taking follows a young couple and their quest to survive some supernatural events that are sweeping the globe. Eventuality they realise that their town, and possibly humanity, are under attack from a enemy that won’t show itself. They look for other people to put up a defence with and come across differing view on what is happen and how it should be dealt with.
