What Members Thought

I sometimes think people rate classics high because they felt they were supposed to and not because they are a good read. I am trying to read more "classics" and am fairly consistently disappointed. This book was no exception to that. While I found it entertaining at times, I didn't find it captivating or life changing. In fact, it was somewhat difficult and disjointed at times. This is another one of the books I have owned for years but never read. The relevency of the novel is that it could have been written today instead of 50 years ago.

This needs a re-read as well, I read it ages ago and very fast so I'm sure I didn't fully appreciate it.

What a sad world it would be where books are illegal merchandise and they are daily burnt, but even sadder is the fact that most of the public has no desire to read books even if they were legally allowed to. This book was short, but had a very serious message. I really enjoyed it, and it made me picture a world where reading a book was considered breaking the law.
