He lost me at the unnecessary rape scene. It clearly served no purpose other than to be shocking. I was bored before that but sticking around because I was intrigued by the plot. However, once I reached that scene, I threw up my hands and promptly tossed the book into the donation pile. I only gave it 2 stars because I liked the premise of the story. I've since read the summary and feel that I made the right choice in stopping. ...more
