A post apocalyptic comfort read about how family pulls together, how strangers CAN be nice and pull together and share resources without too much drama. A novel of survival featuring not necessarily all braniac's, but people with good ole common sense. I thought it was a great book, and I enjoyed it very much.(less)
No, theres no Zombies, roving gangs of bad guys or crazed rogue military troops. Its more a somber drama about survival, hope and ingenuity in a blank landscape. I thought it was well

Plague virus post-apocalypse take that focuses on the minutia of surviving immediately after the collapse of the power grid and food supply chain. No demons vs. angels, zombies, or war for the soul of humanity. The only reason I subtracted one star was some failures on details; seriously understating the challenges of managing livestock, no consideration given to disease or the need for meds, deciding that guns were obsolete because they couldn't make their own ammo, etc. There also wasn't much ...more
