What Members Thought

Helen (read247_instyle_inca)
My first venture into translated speculative fiction/sci fi, and it was definitely worth it! This was not an easy read because of the science described. The writing is obviously influenced by the Chinese Cultural Revolution, just another interesting and thought provoking aspect to the story. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

It was kind of a slow start for me, but it picked up towards the end. I thought it was very interesting and creative and I absolutely loved how it ended. I did space out a little bit with some of the long political and/or science discussions. I also had a hard time keeping track of the characters, most likely because I listened to it on audiobook. I also didn't feel that strongly for any of the characters. I was entertained.

I did not finish because it had to go back to the library. Given the reviews, I'd like to revisit this someday.
