The Three Body Problem takes a familiar premise - aliens need to leave their world and want ours - and works it through in a compelling, near future narrative. It's heavy on the science, with no reason for the reader to judge one way or the other. And it has a surprising number of twists and turns played out in detail - much like in Neal Stephenson's earlier novels. Liu Cixin packs in so many well thought out concepts, I just wonder how he has managed to publish so many books!

This is hardcore sci-fi, which I usually don’t even attempt. I am pretty sure about 80% of it went right over my head. It’s inventive and kind of fascinating, but difficult. I much prefer the screwball sci-fi of “Year Zero” by Rob Reid (which I also recently read), so.... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Turns everything inside out. I won't play these games, but I see them in a different light. Yet, yet, it's still Wells and Welles with the bad guys (or? Book 1) coming to get us. I liked differential equations, but I dropped out of algebra 2, which I now regret. ...more
