What Members Thought
I listened to the audiobook. The characters were portrayed well by the reader, making the themes of the book even more disturbing and outlandish. Maybe that is a good thing as I suspect I came away with a stronger opinion of the material than I might have if I read the book. Overall, it's thought provoking and unsettling: best appreciated if one takes into account that it was written in 1932.

As you know, Goodreads use of the star system to indicate how much we "liked" or didn't like a book. I gave Brave New World four stars, which means I really liked it. My feelings for this book are not "really liking it". In fact, it's probably one of the most terrifying books I've ever read. I'm glad I read it. I won't read it again. Huxley certainly knows how to write a dystopian future.

I really expected to love this. A dystopia that's so well-liked it's become a classic? Sounds right up my alley. Unfortunately, I found myself underwhelmed. I enjoyed the world building, but the plot was a bit lacking for my taste.
