What Members Thought

I admit it, I love post-apocalyptic fiction. I think my fascination with the subject has a lot to do with a book I got through one of those Scholastic Book Club flyers when I was in elementary school. It was Daybreak 2250 A.D. by Andre Norton. I went on to reading Logan's Run and The Masque of the Red Death among other post-apocalyptic fiction that I no longer remember. Growing up in the Sixties and Seventies, apocalypse seemed like a very real possibility.

As I've said before, sort story collections are always going to be hit and miss, but this was unfortunately a lot more miss than hit. Several of the stories I have read before in other anthologies so he only one that made any kind of impact that will be remembered was Ginny "Sweethips' Flying Circus". Other than that, largely forgettable stuff.

A good collection of short stories, but the quality of them gets worse as you get to the end. Don't read if you are easily depressed, but really, all of the people complaining that the collection is depressing, what did you expect from a collection of stories about the end of the world? Its the end of the world people, it is usually depressing and just generally full of bad things happening.
