Ok, I didn't finish this book but am gonna judge it anyway! It's poorly written, doesn't flow, I can't stand the main character, John and people just overall behaving like rednecks. It is hoo-rah pro-military crap that gives kuddos to the likes or Reagan and sounds like those miliamen who build bunkers waiting for doomsday to strike.

A decent read...went very fast. As far as post-apocalytpic books go though, I liked other ones better, including the two that this author mentions - On the Beach by Nevil Shute and and Pat Frank's Alas, Babylon. Thanks for the recommendation, Ron!

This book was interesting in its portrayal of the US following an EMP attack. The author's military career and mindset along with his political alignment are very prominent and as a result I didn't personally buy into the entire scenario. It is thought-provoking but is very slanted from the right and with a war eagle world view. I think he could have improved the book by developing the characters more.
