Jacqueline is assaulted by one of her ex's, a frat brother, after a break up with her longtime boyfriend, who she followed to college. She was rescued by a stranger, Lucas, and all she wants is to forget what happened that night, but her attacker turns to be a stalker, and she needs to find a way to defend herself. Lucas is always watching for her but he also has his own secrets. It's hard not to spoil anything here. I have mixed feelings about this book. I like that Jacqueline didn't go crazy after her ex boyfriend, begging to come back, that she recognized that it was a mistake following him to college instead of finding her own path. The recent break up doesn't hold her back from developing feeling towards Lucas. I like that she is strong and she joins defense "classes" in case she needs to fight to defend herself someday. But, I found a little odd that after almost being raped she seems to be okay too fast. She sees her attacker on the halls many times, he even try to attack her again, but instead of looking for authorities or even ask help to someone, she keeps quiet and trying to get out of this situation on her own.
I couldn't understand her, by keeping silence, she was putting other girls in danger since the attacker is still around and still trying to get to her. That shows that it wasn't just drunk guy out of his mind, he is sober at school saying he will get what he wants. He is a potential rapist that can actually find his way to get what he wants at some point, even with other girls. I really don't understand how fast she could move on from an attack on a parking lot and many threats after that, to think unstoppable about this new guy, who saved her, but she wasn't just thinking about him she was also talking to him online. Every time that she said all she wanted was to forget that night, I didn't feel anything, like this could be her way to deal with the situation. It was just a phrase for me. I couldn't connect with her. This could be a great book if the main character were a little bit more afraid. Usually I like strong and fearless characters, but this time it's not about being fearless. She is being careless and unrealistic. ...more

A heart-warmer!

It deals with really sensitive issues..
1. rape,and the people victimized by it(directly or indirectly)..
2. true love(well,for me,this one's equally acute)

Lucas and Jacqueline are different people having distinct backgrounds.
Lucas is a guy whose mother has been raped and killed in his presence,and he blames himself for not being able to protect her. He is trying to run away from his past.
Jacqueline is a simple girl with simple dreams and ambitions.
Her confidence in herself wavers ...more
