What Members Thought

Crossed is the second installment in the Matched Trilogy, following on from where the first book ended.
I read Matched last year for a Book Day at work and was surprised by how much I loved it, so I was really excited when Crossed came out. As I'm broke right now I had to request a copy from the library instead of buying one (although I still want my own copy), the library copy came in quite quickly and I couldn't wait to get stuck in.

Did I enjoy this book? I did enjoy this book, but not until I got through the first half of it. For me, the first half dragged a bit. Once I hit the second half, I had to read it every free chance I got. I finished the second half in a little more than a day, which is a short amount of time considering the holiday and being a stay-at-home mom.
The journey was interesting. There were “near misses,” or what seemed to be “near misses.” There were near-death situations and a lot of death itself. Ther ...more

This book was definitely a bridge between the first and the third, with new characters and plots introduced, but nothing is really resolved. It felt kind of like the last Harry Potter book where the trio spends a lot of time wandering in the forests waiting for something to happen. I'm curious to see what happens in the third book of this trilogy.

Ally Condie has done it again (no surprise). While this book is slower paced, it's even more beautiful than Matched!

This book was really slow paced, but it fit the story well. I just wish it hadn't been so slow paced so I would've finished it faster. I fell in love with the whole new cast of characters, and I fell into a whole new kind of love with the old characters. All their relationships with one another were complex and realistic.

You can never judge someone elses opinion but your own. While I have seen that the review score is poor, mostly 2 or 3 stars I am happy to give the book 4.5 stars. Unlike many readers I disagree with the comments made, and find that the book had so much depth, romance suspence and so many secrets! I am sorry I cannot understand how anyone could fault this book, my only explanation is may be I read diffrent book to everybody else?
