I think one thing this book gives more than other dystopian books is the fact thats its all kinda believable. Arranged matches to try to strengthen the population and irradicate certain diseases. Control of what books you can read and what music you can listen to. It even controls what you learn so no one person knows enough on their own to be able to survive if the regime fell. This book had me from the first few pages. Unlike other YA dystopias this one is a love story. I like that it is not being obnoxious about it, it's kind of romantic.
The world of this book is scary. They way to develop a good life and health for everyone includes perfect food intake, recording of everyone's dreams and actions, and the total removal of choice, whether job, mate, food or activity. This is terrifying.

I absolutely loved this book. It is well written, and consistent; There is something that reminds me of the Suzanne Collins books, I think it is the teen relationships, and the love triangle, mostly, the beautiful way they are drawn, though for tight, confident, writing it gets my vote as better. I loved this book! I saw it at B&N and it looked so different on the shelf. I picked it up and read the back, that was when I couldn't stop thinking about it! I bought it and with in 3 days, I finsished it. I also recommened the sequal, Crossed. I hope y'all try it out! :)
