What Members Thought

Alright, I'm going to start off with saying that I really liked the concept of this book. Just found it very interesting (I'm assuming if you're reading this you've either read the synopsis or read the book already). Another thing I liked was the format, or part of the way it was formatted. One of the main characters, Clay, listens to cassette tapes, and so throughout the books there are breaks in the chapters where Clay "pauses", "plays", and "stops" the cassette tapes. When I first grabbed this book and glanced at the back cover for a short synopsis, I was intrigued so I knew I had to read it. Now that I've finished it, I got to say that it just broke me. It didn't sit well being such a deeply depressing novel in so many ways. I guess you could say I'm into stories with a so-called "happy-ending" but I really don't know. It was alright. Maybe I'm just not comfortable with these kinds of stories where everything just seems so hopeless for so many characters.

This is the first book since HPatDH that I literally could not put down until I found out how it would end. This is a gripping and heartbreakingly realistic book (in fact, I wouldn't be here to write this review were it not for the ER staff who saved me from becoming a Hannah), and I loved the premise of "keep circulating the tapes."

Too depressing..
I just don't get or liked the reasons to Hanna's suicide. It's just that it's too shallow. But then, I liked the lesson, that if we want and care for somebody we must show and say it before it's too late. We must not let fear prevent us for doing something that we want. ...more
