What Members Thought
Almost two decades since I read first book, I'm still enjoying the series very much. I've obviously read the series several times and I still hold that it is among the best-written books of the past 50 years. One reason I think so is that there is enough action to cater to the action-loving people and enough description to cater to the setting lovers. The characters are engaging and though sometimes cliched, allow for an emotional connection to be built.

2019: Listened with the family.
I am positive this book (the whole series) has at least 4 reads:
*read it the first time in 1999 or 2000 (first year of teaching)
*listened with my husband prior to book 5 coming out
*re-read the year before book 7 came out--purpose: re-read closely to figure out Snape
*listened again with husband and son in the car
Read dates other than 2019 are guesses.
