Shelves: historical-fiction, urban-fantasy

The last quarter of this book was better than the rest but overall I found myself disinterested in the story and characters. The author gives grand descriptions of the environment but nothing ever seems to happen.

Never have I been more delighted to have been mistaken. Permit me to explain… My journey through ‘The Night Circus’ was a long and winding adventure beginning when a friend gifted a hardback copy of it to me nearly two years ago. I read the premise and decided to place it on my shelf to read at a later date, not intrigued enough to forward it to the front of my reading queue.

I don't have much to say about the story. It is pretty plain and boring and definitely overhyped.
Though I really enjoyed the descriptive language and the atmosphere. The author did it well! All the mystery and festive vibes of circus are present. I even wanted to visit a circus :) Hope soon I can manage to do it! ...more

I borrowed this book from my sister, as she said it would be up my alley, and it seemed to have an interesting premise. I thoroughly enjoyed my time visiting the Night Circus.

The first thing I noticed as I read was that the descriptions seemed almost effortless. As if Erin Morgenstern was one of her own characters, presenting the events of the book to me as an illusion within my own mind. I was not really sure I would like this book, as I am not keen on romance or chiclit, but I wanted to read something a bit 'fluffy' for a change. I really loved this book and would recommend it if you are looking for some light reading.

I read it not really interested in the love story and I think that is why I enjoyed it so much.
