My feet hurt after this book. In the very good sense. I ran 2 half-marathons during the reading. My farthest run was 15 km before it. Now, a marathon is really feasible in the future. And by “future” I mean next month. Born to run! :D

Born to Run somehow increased my near-obsession-level love of the sport. Chapters dealing with the mechanics of running (which I had assumed would be dull) were, in some ways, highlights of the book.
Though I read this book many years ago when it first hit store shelves, it is one of the few works of non-fiction that has stayed with me on an almost daily basis. Not a day goes by that I don't think of a person, a story, or a discussion of running mechanics that occurs in BTR.

This was a very well-written and interesting book about ultramarathoners--those runners who run 50, 100, 150 mile races. The author, a writer for Runners' World Magazine, recruits an eclectic group (are there any other types of ultrarunners?!) to travel to Mexico to race a reclusive tribe of indians, the Tarahumara, known for their ability to run long races, wearing homemade sandals, and win.
