When I first saw this book , I thought OK, another supernatural novel and that it must be about angels as that's what it looked like from the cover to me and then I thought it might be about water sirens etc as Tempest is a water creature e.g like the book "Tempest Rising". But, I was in for a shock as it turned about to be about a jumper - a guy named Jackson , who holds the rare gene of being able to jump back in time and then back to the present time. I had been wanting to read this series for a while now. I had checked out the first 2 books from the library on a couple different occasions, but never got around to reading them. But when we were blessed to find out that we would be able to host Julie Cross for a FFBC event, and would be receiving TIMESTORM for review, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to marathon the series.

I had been wanting to read this series for a while now. I had checked out the first 2 books from the library on a couple different occasions, but never got around to reading them. But when we were blessed to find out that we would be able to host Julie Cross for a FFBC event, and would be receiving TIMESTORM for review, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to marathon the series.

The one thing that I don't usually like when books do flash back scenes is the inability to follow along with the timeline. I was happy to say that I did not have that problem with this book. And there is a quite a bit of time travel in this book, both going into the past and into the future.

The book starts off with the main character Jackson just finding out about this ability to time jump. He is still unsure about how it able to do this, but with the help of his brainiac best friend Adam are running experiments to try to figure it all out. Up until this point, Jackson has been able to go back into time, but he has not been able to remain there for longer than a few minutes. All this changes, when one day 2 men break into his girlfriend Holly's apartment in an attempt to kidnap Jackson to test him to see if he actually does have the powers they think he does. When they are unable to successfully acquire him, they have to take drastic measures to see what Jackson is capable of and they shoot and kill Holly.

Unable to handle the heartbreak Jackson does what they call a "COMPLETE JUMP" and moves his home base back into the future. Now that he is back into the future, he determined to find a way to save Holly. He finds and locates Adam and had to convince him that he is from the future and ask for his help. As he starts hunting for answers, secrets start unraveling before him. Jackson no longer knows who he can trust but he will get to the bottom of things.

There were a lot of things about this book that I really enjoyed. First off what I liked most about this book was the BROMANCE between Jackson and Adam. They are so different in so many ways. Despite his time traveling abilities, Jackson is the typical rich guy, who has always had everything handed to him. Adam on the other hand is a genius but what would be considered some what of a nerd. Usually these two guys would not have a reason to be friends, but someone their friendship works, and they both have each others backs.

The next thing I really enjoyed about this book was the the suspense and action. Just when you think you had something figured out Julie Cross would reveal another tid bit of info that would completely throw you a curve ball. The action was great, but was at times a little slow and repetitive. Hence what made me give it a 4 star rating. But the action that was there was enough to keep me reading and wanting to know would happen next.

The love story is what surprised me. The relationship with Holly and Jackson, is so troubled and filled with so much angst and turmoil. There were some beautiful scenes and some parts that made you reaching for one tissue after another. The story ends with a heartbreaking note and one that made me immediately grab for book 2! ...more

Shelves: upcoming-antidotes, audio-book, time-traveling

I had a hard time with this one. I listened to the audiobook, and I pretty much loathe whenever a guy tries to do a girl's voice. It just ends up not sounding right. Also, there was nothing very remarkable about any of the characters, and I couldn't really see why Jackson loved Holly. There's a part near the end involving the two of them and I rolled my eyes so hard, I think the person in the car next to me felt it. The time travel stuff was weird and honestly kind of stupid.
