Abandoned as a toddler on her new parents doorstep, being uprooted from all you know and starting high school after being homeschooled for all your schooling years can be quite traumatic. Laurel has just entered high school as a sophomore for the first time and is starting to experience some odd things, having not gone through puberty yet she gets a bump oh her back and shrugs it off as an everyday zit , but little does she know that she is in the stage of blossoming and sprouting petal like wi ...more

So, this book has been on my nook forever. I finally sat down and read it after hearing so many reviews about it. Great, another new series to keep track of, LOL!
Laurel has always been different from other kids her age. For one thing, she is adopted--she was left on her parents' doorstep as a toddler. (I know...a little cliche, right?) Meh.
I've never had much luck with faerie books. I still think Lament is the best one I've read so far.
If you're just looking for romance, this is the book for you.
If you're looking for action and adventure, and maybe a little substance to your story, I've got lots of other great suggestions.
Recommended for younger YA readers (there is a *mention* of S-E-X, but none actual). ...more
