What Members Thought

I really don't know what to think of this one. I think it's because some of the relationships felt forced. I won't say who, but I'm hoping they'll do a better job of making it seem real in the movie. Overall, though, it was hard for me to put down once I really got into the story. Also, team Zombie!

I've had this book on my TBR for years. Now that the movie is on Netflix, I figured it was a good time to finally read it!
In the prologue which takes place in 1995, a shadow comes for a sleeping pregnant woman. The intruder invades the woman's body but does so without breaking the skin, and it gets inside the sleeping baby somehow. It will remain asleep for several years, even after the baby is born.
Then the story moves forward in time. From the point of view of a teenager named Cassie, we learn ...more

Why did I not read this book sooner?! The 5th Wave takes alien invasion to a whole new level..no E.T. coming to befriend us..no common cold killing these creatures! They have figured us out and know exactly how to wipe us out. I mean..tsunamis and birds?! Never would have thought of that..
Cassie is your typical sixteen year old, crushing on the high school football player..when the world as we know it ends. Now it's up to her to find and rescue her brother, alone until she meets Evan Walker. I ...more

So, to start things off, if Goodreads had half stars i would have given The 5th Wave a 4.5.
pages 1-200 were action packed amazingness! I was on the edge of my seat biting my nails. I really really enjoyed the switching of points of view between Cassie and Ben, I was confused at times because there was no indication of whose point of view I was reading from. Consequently, the first time I was reading for Ben's point of view i was REALLY confused! Sammy was adorable! he was one of my favorites to ...more

This is my new top recommendation in the library. The writing is cinematic; reading it is like watching a sci-fi film. I loved how the varied perspectives made you continually doubt quite what was going on. The characters were all very strong and believable and the plot kept me guessing until the end. I am desperate to see what happens next. (view spoiler)

I'm not entirely sure why I loved it so much, but I can't fault it either way. Cannot wait to read the next one.
