What an adventure this was!
My first ever glimpse into J.R.R. Tolkien's world (Yes - at 19, I know, I know. I just never was interested in watching TLOTR or anything, sooo...) and I am pleasantly surprised.
High fantasy can go all sorts of ways, as I have realized.
And I for myself know that I need to be a bit careful about what kind of stuff I read as I have a vivid imagination and especially some high fantasy stories can be really really dark in my opinion and not do good to me and my soul. (Hope ...more

How do you honestly review a masterpiece?

This was a re-read for me, something I do almost yearly in September. I actually read the LOTR books first before reading The Hobbit shortly after - I just wanted more and more from the world of Tolkien. And it did not disappoint.

I loved this book the first time I read it, and I loved it again. This time, I have an image in my head of each character from the movie.
There were quite a few things about the book I forgot. The ending is one of them. Don't worry, I'm not going to spoil it for those who haven't read The Hobbit yet. Just kidding. Bilbo dies. JK again.
