I did something that I don't normally do.
First I saw the film and then I read this book.
Usually if I watch something without having read the book before, I leave it at that.
But "The Help" really lingered in my mind for a time after watching and I finally begged my aunt to lend me her copy asap!
As most of you know, it's about coloured maids in the Sixties and the whole civil rights topic.

What a beautiful heart wrenching, blood boiling, delicately honest book.
I went into this one already knowing much of the story, from having watched the film a few years ago (and really enjoying that), but even so I devoured this! Each chapter reads so personally, tailored to the characters own voice and perspective offering such a close insight into the lives of these women.

I loved this book, was recomended it on twitter and i am so glad i read it. Loved the authors writing style, the way it was written by different view points, had me hooked until the very end. A light hearted look at what could be very serious subject.
