When you try to review a hyped book that's all over the internet like TFIOS it is rather difficult to start and get your feelings expressed properly, as someone's bound to have said it all anyway.
So I will just get some things of my chest that I want to say nevertheless:

Hazel Grace has thyroid cancer with mets to the lungs and is terminal. She is spending her life watching reality TV, rereading the same book, and forcing herself to attend a a support group she hates. Then she meets Augustus and he is able to pull her out of the rut she calls life and show her what it's like to live.

This book left me speechless- it made me laugh ,it made me burst in tears and have an unexplainable anger at the universe.
The characters in this book made me wish they were real- Augustus, the one legged boy,and also Hazel, who is the most down to earth Cancer character I ever read about!

I'm not a massive fan of YA literature, at least I wasn't until I picked up this book.
But John Green does not talk down to his readers, he addresses them as they should be addressed - as young people of intelligent, enquiring minds.
This story might, at first glance, seem just like every sad and doomed love story. It is not. It IS about first-loves. It IS also about illness. But it is also, and primarily, about life. And not just life, but that intrepid, curious way of life that you have when y ...more
