I love how unashamedly fantastical this book is! It's an old school rich fantasy full of magic and mythological creatures.
It's a fun, imaginative, and very clever story. I couldn't predict what was going to happen next, but I loved how intricately it all fitted together piece by piece as the story progressed.
I knocked off a star because it does rather go off on a tangent halfway through, the pace slows significantly and you're rather thrown a whole bunch of context all at once. I didn't not enjo ...more

It’s always so difficult to read a book that has so much hype surrounding it. I felt like I had to like this book otherwise the world and it’s mother would give me quizzical looks and be all like “really?”. Maybe this is the reason it took me a look time to like this book. Or maybe the first few chapters I sat there thinking “WHAT IS GOING ON?” for the most part. Maybe.

4.5 Stars!
Review to come!
But omg this book was so so good and once I started to better understand the world building (purposefully a bit convoluted until the big reveal) I could not put it down. Felt very much like a fairy tale being told to you and it’s so lyrical and rich! Cannot wait to see where the rest of the story goes, especially after that ending!
