Still one of my favourites, due to heaps of nostalgia, due to my love for Salinger's writing in general, and due to the hilarity.

Of course, I'd heard of this book due to its cult-like status. However, I had no idea what it was about. My copy had no blurb. I didn't know any characters, I didn't know any events... I literally had absolutely no idea what the book was about.

As my Mum based her English Literature University Masters on Salinger, I thought it was about time I tried one of his offerings myself. I was far from disappointed. The Catcher in the Rye is a wonderful coming-of-age story with none of the clichés that are included in many other ones. It is nothing if not original and yet Salinger still managed to keep me captivated into the life of Holden Caufield throughout.
