4.5 stars! This book made my heart break in two and then mended it slowly back together. It really is a good becoming of age sort of novel, and it touches on Charlie's year with experiences and issues like drugs, sexuality, relationships, and dealing with the past. I really didn't like this book until the last 15 pages or so. I'm generally not one to walk away from a book without finishing it (I feel this strange, nagging lack of closure), and I'm glad I stuck it out. Throughout the story, I kept feeling like I was reading an updated version of The Catcher in the Rye, which I also didn't like.
