Just re-reading an old favourite trilogy to try and get out of this huge slump! This was still as great as I remember, such an original concept and an amazing experience to read. It reminded me of old characters and events that I'd forgotten about. Btw, is it just me that would love to see the Hunger Games from Foxface's perspective? Peeta is still a sweet angel and I still love Katniss and her angst. ...more

I really don't love the premise of this series. I don't know that I would ever finish it except that on this second reading I'm doing a challenge centered around the series. The idea of the Hunger Games is just plain awful. That being said you do end up cheering for Katniss and Peeta. Hoping for the characters to find a way to win out does keep this book from being a chore to read. The quality of the writing is very solid and it's easy to get pulled into the story. This is one of the few stories where I enjoyed the movie more than the book. First of all, I listened to the audiobook version, and I hated the voice of the narrator. It was very hard for me to get past that, but I did. Besides this though, I really liked the book. I only had a few issues with believability in some places, and I also felt the characters and some of the visuals could have been fleshed out just a bit more.
