Soo. When this book first came out it was really popular and everyone was reading it. While I do like a good book, I'm usually don't read mainstream books. I'm usually all about the first time authors. Dystopian books are usually not on my reading list and are not one of the genres I care for. Having said this, my sister read the book and loved it. My sister and I have very similar tastes from books to music to hot celebrity guys. So, I listened to her rave about the book(s) and she told me I ha ...more

As far as books go, the story is kind of basic, the characters decently developed but nothing special, the killing not especially bloody but well written, and the cliché regular teen becomes an unwilling hero.

And yet I fell in love with Katniss. She is rational, keeps her emotions mostly inside, and just goes for it in her struggle to survive. She also kind of sucks at interpersonal relationships and is very kick ass. And she is all girl! I am so sick and tired of seeing these stereot

I liked it far better than I expected but I felt that the actual Hunger Games part of the book was a little short, but that is ok I guess because I really like the overall book.

wow, this is a really difficult book to review. As much as I liked it, it made me uncomfortable. What a horrible world to have to live in when we put are young people in such horrible situations! But, are there a lot of young ones in horrible situations right now, too?

The brutality and horror during the game were difficult at times, but what was the most difficult was the conditions from where Katniss came. A child without at childhood, a girl not able to enjoy being one.

My mind is just spinning

From the first page, I was hooked. 'The Hunger Games' has a really good pace to it. Plus the characters are great. The Games was pretty interesting. Twisted, yes. But still interesting. I hated how the book ended though. It completely leaves you hanging. At least it does make you want to read the next one. Overall, an amazing book and can't wait to read the next one. ...more

I almost had to give this 2 stars because the editing was horrific! I wanted to take a red pen, make corrections and ship it back to the publisher. It was horrendous and, unfortunately, took a lot away from the overall experience.

What saved this book was the plot and concept of youth's experience with war. I thought the idea was brilliant and I liked the character development. I'm interested to see where this goes in the next books...
