A case of wrong expectations for a story. I thought I'd get a dystopian type read - the water is rising. And I'd get the struggle of sisters coming to terms with their terrible relationships and their father passing.

I am so glad that Lauren and The Books picked this for her Patreon book club because after really dislikingOur Wives Under the Sea I wasn't inclined to pick up another Julia Armfield.
Let me tell you my reading experience of these two books were like night and day. Even though the tone was similarly morose. The plot and the characters really drew me in to Private Rites.
