ooh this is a dark dark story. As Blythe becomes a new mother, it's difficult to read her messy sleepiness, her doubt as a new mother and her fears. She's struggling and the short chapters, quick snippets into her life, are fast paced and easy to stream through. But her pain bleeds off the page. As confusions turns to distrust, it's easy to become frustrated with all the characters in the story.

After some thought I have dropped my rating by half a star. I know I am going against the flow here, but like most, I was not in the least surprised by the ending. I would have been shocked if it had ended any other way. I knew very early in the book who the culprit was. And I had very little sympathy for the books other major character, if anything I didn't like her or her method of coping with life or with her daughter.
Now with that said, I do believe that this book was an exception ...more
