Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2) in Reading between the wines

I have to admit that it's hard to say goodbye to Trav, and I'm doing it kicking and screaming all the way!

I liked Walking Disaster, not as much as I liked Beautiful Disaster for two reasons. One, I already knew what was going to happen, and I felt I got a lot more detail when Abby was telling the story. Two, I didn't like the Epilogue and felt the story could have done without it.

Here are some of my favorite moments:

"I could have loved you in another life."
"I might love you in this one."

"Abby's relaxing breath moved my chest up and down slowly as I fell asleep next to the second woman i've ever loved."

How could she even wonder? "You know why I want you? I didn't know I was lost until you found me. I didn't know what alone was until the firstnight I spent without you in my bed. You're the one thing I've got right. You're what I've been waiting for Pigeon.

I wonder what mom would say if she were here.
Dad pulled back, his eye wet with happy tears. "She'd say you did good, son." He looked at Abby. She'd say thank you for giving her boy back something that left him when she died."

I just adored Travis. On the outside he appeared to be this big, strong, sarcastic, "don't mess with me," kind of a guy. So far from the truth. The way I saw him, he was just a giant teddy bear who was desperately seeking love. Sleeping around was just his way of medicating himself until it was no longer needed...until he found the one true thing in his life...until he found Pigeon.

I loved the relationship between Shepley and Travis. There's something about having a friend who knows you inside and out; who you can't hide from; who sometimes knows you better than you know yourself. Their dialogue was real, honest, and hysterical, and I could totally relate to it.

I'd like to have seen a little bit more of Travis & Abby's relationship after they married in Vegas. More about their life together pre-kids. Who knows...maybe someday we will.

But for now, I'll just say so long Travis...I'll miss you. :) ...more

Jamie did a wonderful job of telling us the story through Travis' eyes! I always love a great POV change, and this is a great example of how it's done. I was just as interested as I was when reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time. I never felt like I had to skim over anything because it was too close to the story we saw through Abby's version! ...more

Loved Travis' point of view! I would have loved to have read Travis' thoughts at the club when he & Shep were pulling the guys off the dance floor for dancing with the girls. But overall, Wow! There was soooooo much more to Travis than was represented in first book. THE EPILOGUE=WOWZA! I fell in love with Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox all over again! ...more
