Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2) in Reading between the wines

I'm actually glad I read Beautiful Disaster months ago. I enjoyed it, but I loved Walking Disaster even more. What a rare gem to be able to get into not only ANY male character's head- but Travis Maddox's dysfunctional, complex, F'd up way of thinking.

Oh, how I loved living his POV!

And Pidge wasn't easy. As Travis' dead mother put it she 'was the one worth fighting for'...

“You can’t tell me what to do anymore, Travis! I don’t belong to you!”
Her words ignited a deep anger inside me. I stomped to the bed, planted my hands on the mattress on each side of her thighs, and leaned into her face.
“Well, I belong to you!” I screamed. I put so much force behind my words, I could feel all the blood rush to my face. Abby met my glare, refusing to even flinch. I looked at her lips, panting. “I belong to you,” I whispered, my anger fading as desire took over.”

And I could have happily ended right here:

“This is it,” I whispered. “What?” “The moment. When I watch you sleeping . . . that peace on your face? This is it. I haven’t had it since before my mom died, but I can feel it again.” I took another deep breath and pulled her closer. “I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. Turns out it wasn’t something about you at all. It was just you.”

But if I would have stopped reading there I would have missed the brilliant epilogue that was such a scrumptious peek into the future.

Thank you, Ms. McGuire, for keeping me up late, sitting with me on my lunch break and making me sneak my iPad under my office desk. Thank you for your imagination & lovely, complicated characters. Thank you for helping me FEEL every spectrum of emotion possible. Well done! ...more

Well where do I start.. Oh Travis if I didn't love you enough in beautiful disaster... You definitely made me fall in love with you all over again in walking disaster.

God did I just love this book. From start to end I had so many emotions. Being in his head was just amazing. It was so well written in his point of view. I don't think she could have done a better job at it, it was just perfect! Jamie McGuire nailed it with this book.

God did I just love this book. From start to end I had so many emotions. Being in his head was just amazing. It was so well written in his point of view. I don't think she could have done a better job at it, it was just perfect! Jamie McGuire nailed it with this book.

I was so excited to hear that Jamie McGuire was gonna write a book in Travis' perspective. I was jumping for joy because as I read beautiful disaster I was curious to see how he felt. We got to see Abby's side and I really wanted to know what Travis was thinking or what he was feeling or doing while he was not with her. The parts I was most looking forward to was after thanksgiving leading up to the valentines date party! Let me tell you I was soo sad for him and what he was going through... He really loved Abby.

At times I wanted to kill Abby, she was so stubborn. I wanted to throw my iPad across the room. But seeing this book through Travis' eyes really made my heart beat fast. He was so sweet, so loving and wanted to be this perfect man for Abby. She was the love of his life and he was not gonna stop fighting for her. That's what I. Loved the most.... His fight. He never gave up. She was it for him.

The end of the book was just amazing, stupendous, wow....
And that epilogue .... that was exactly what I needed. It was amazing and I couldn't have ask for a better ending.

There are soo many quotes I loved.... But I'll only post a few...
“I know we’re fucked up, all right? I’m impulsive and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you . . . but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever. When you’re around, I don’t need booze or money or the fighting or the one-night stands . . . all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want."

“You know why I want you? I didn’t know I was lost until you found me. I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed. You’re the one thing I’ve got right. You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.”

I can not wait for this movie to be made. I loved both books and I cannot wait till I get to see it in a movie! I'm a,so looking forward to the stories of Travis' brothers! I hope we get to see more of Abby and Travis!!! Just can't get enough of them!!! So in love! ...more

Don't hate, but I thought this book was ok. I was hoping to like it more than I did. However, I did like being in Travis' head in this book.

Taking suggestions from other GR friends, I skimmed BD before tackling WD. I liked the 1st one ok, it just wasn't a favorite of mine. I think this was mostly due to my dislike of Abby. This one didn't help my love for her. Not sure how I thought this one would have changed my perception......

However, reading about Trav & Shep kept me going to the end. ...more

Ok, I listened to this book instead of reading it! The audio and narrator was great!! Love me some Travis. The book is in his POV and the best part of the book for me and any author that does this, is the epilogue!! Nothing like seeing into the future. You become so invested in the characters that you cannot help but wonder what happens later on. Jamie McGuire has another great job of capturing Abby and Travis! I sooooo love Travis. Great read and look forward to more books from this author. Wor ...more

3.5 stars. I liked it , but I have to say I was a little disappointed and expected more. My favorite parts were the beginning and the end. I felt like most parts were just reading BD over again but from Travis's POV. Don't get me wrong, the book was good, just not exactly what I was expecting. I loved falling in love with Travis and Abby all over again and think that Jamie nailed Travis. I hope we get a glimpse of their lives together....well done Jamie! ...more
