You all know I LOVE the Shacking Up series and I was so excited to dive into Griffin’s book. He’s the older and more reserved brother and that’s reflected in the tone of this one. There’s still some of the trademark Helena Hunting humor and one-liners I’ve come to love - but their relationship develops quickly and with a much more serious undertone. Griffin has a lot of baggage from his past, A LOT. And their age difference is definitely reflected in how they initially react to situations but I felt like Cosy really came into her own throughout the story and ended up being incredibly mature in what she has to deal with. They are opposites in every way and yet they come across as equals within the relationship which isn’t easy considering the powerful family he comes from. There’s plenty of sexy banter but on the heat scale this one is definitely on the tamer side if you tend to shy away from all of the explicit details. We also get to meet more of Lincoln, his cousin, which helps set up the fifth book coming out in August. There’s a few quick cameos from Bane, Lex and of course Armstrong, which were entertaining and fun and I love when all the characters weave in and out of the different stories! This next one in the series is out July 16th so make sure you pre-order your copy!

Edit: Making Up was initially a 4 star, but I later downgraded to a 3-3.5. I hold this series to a pretty high standard after loving the other books, but this one has a much more serious/drama filled plot. If it was a stand-alone I might have liked it more? But it didn’t really fit the rest of the series and have the same rom-com vibe. Still one of my favorite series ever (minus this book)

Helena Hunting’s Shaking Up series has some of my all time favorite rom-coms, I find myself recommending Shaking Up and Hooking Up (and Getting Down!) constantly! When it was announced that Griffin was getting his own book I was SO READY! Making Up is the fourth book in the series, and while it has a bit more going on than the previous books it’s still a fun read!

I’ll include the synopsis below. I’ll admit, I was skeptical when I heard that there would be an age gap between Cosy and Griffin. It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of age gap or May/December romances in books. The 11 year age gap between the two was really pushing it for me. There’s another aspect to Cody’s character that isn’t something I love, so I wasn’t sure how I felt when that was revealed. But I adored their first interaction! Cosy works in a sex toy shop in Las Vegas, and their “meet cute” is as hilarious as you would think it would be! Cody’s inner monologue is fantastic, I was giggling the whole time.

Now as for Griffin, as the book progresses a LOT of drama comes out. Far more than the previous books. Griffin’s vulnerability is clear throughout the book, even though he’s quite a bit older than Cosy there’s moments where she seems more mature. There’s some classic Hunting banter throughout the book, although the overall tone has a lot more angst and Griffin is a bit more possessive than the other men in the series.

Making Up was a four star read for me! If you need some rom-coms in your life, please pick up this series and read it in order!! I think my enjoyment of the book was amplified from spending so much time with the Mills family in previous books. And since we got a little introduction to Lincoln (the hero in book 5!) I can’t wait to dive into the next book ...more

I am not making this up... YOU WILL ADORE COSY AND GRIFFIN'S STORY!!

Making Up is book four in the Shacking Up series and it was filled with the same sexy, charming, and humorous scenes that Helena Hunting is known for.

She gave us two great characters in Cosy and Griffin. They have an awkward yet memorable first meeting. It's a sexy suit meets quirky virgin. And there is an age gap that adds more excitement to the plot.

This is the 3rd book of the Mills brothers. I have not read the other 2 and had no problem following along this story between Cosy and Griffin.

I just love Hunting’s writing style. Cosy is a fun young lady working at an adult bookstore to earn a living while finishing college. I love how she had a personal to be the effective sales person. Her interaction with Griffin is amazing.
