This book isn't going to be for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. There's a lot of NYC references, influencer behind the scenes, and side notes about start-up culture and entrepreneurship. It's fun to see Eliza and her sister working on their own business, as well as her best friend trying to launch hers. However, the main character does try to trick a guy into marrying her for the 'gram while also confiding all of this to the bartender across the street which is where it seems to turn a lot of

I very much enjoyed Orenstein's first novel, Playing with Matches, so I was thrilled to snag a copy of Love at a First Like. I couldn't stick with the premise of this book, and I couldn't stick with Eliza. Both were really hard to find believable.
I know some people have really enjoyed it, and I've gotten the impression that it makes a lot of good points about social media and it's impact on our lives somewhere further along in the book, which is cool. This was way more personal in just my general enjoyment than anything about the writing, so if the premise intrigues you, I wouldn't advise against giving it a ...more
