Update on reread 10/05: the audiobook was so good! The narrator is really talented, I loved that she did all the voices so well. Still a 4.5-5 star read for me!

Delightful! Torn between 4 and 5 stars, so 4.5 for now!

Re-read by audiobook: Still love Emily and Simon's enemies to lovers summer RenFaire romance! The audiobook and story is told with a female narrator and done really well. I will definitely re-read/re-listen again in the future.

'Well Met' was the perfect fall into romance, get you into the autumn Renaissance festival spirit book that you need! I devoured this sweet, sexy and fun enemies to lovers romance in a day!

Synopsis
Emily just moved to the small town of Willow Creek in order to help her much older sister after a car accident and her teenage niece. After realizing her niece can't participate in the local Renaissance faire without a guardian, Emily volunteers in order to spend more time with her. The only problem is this means Emily will be forced to spend an entire summer around the broody local English teacher Simon. However once the faire starts, Simon is a completely different person. In fact, did he just flirt with her? As Emily grows fonder of Willow Creek and its inhabitants, she starts to wonder which is the true Simon and if she could possibly make a new home here.

Characters
Emily's character was written so well I felt I knew her already for years. She was strong and independent with a slightly sarcastic inner voice that I loved. Her conversations trying to get to know her slightly older sister, who she didn't grow up with, felt real. I love stories that take time to talk about and develop sibling bonds and female friendships. I also loved reading Emily and Simon's interactions which were my favorite parts. You never knew what you were going to get especially once the faire started! The sassy banter and love/hate relationship was strong. This was partly due to Simon being broody and dealing with his own issues and pressures from running the faire his brother helped start. The more you got to know about the main characters and side characters in Willow Creek, the more you wanted to stay forever!

Pacing Points of View
The overall pacing was lightning fast. I couldn't read this book fast enough to find out more about the characters and small town of Willow Creek. The two major points of view were from Emily and Simon.

Overall
I absolutely adored this perfect balance of sexy and sweet with lovable characters. The flirty banter had me smiling and smirking every chapter. I can't recommend this story enough and I know it will be a fall re-read for years to come!

I've heard nothing but rave reviews about Jen DeLuca's renaissance faire romance series and I'm so glad I finally read the first one. What a sweet story! I loved Emily and Simon's adorable romance. There was flirty banter, vulnerable moments, and spicy scenes. I smiled the whole time I read it! I also loved Emily's relationship with her sister and niece. The setting of the renaissance faire was so unique and now I want to go to one for the first time!

This was such a fun romcom!! Emily moves to a small town for the summer to help her sister and teenage niece while her sister recovers from an accident. Her niece desperately wants to be involved in the Renaissance Faire - but anyone under 18 needs an adult to also participate. And so - Emily suddenly finds herself as the newest tavern wench at the Faire.

This book. GAHHH. I wanted light, rom-com feels, and my goodness, I GOT 'EM.

Emily finds herself in a small town, taking care of her older sister and niece after both were in a car crash. Forced into becoming a tavern wench so her niece can join the Renaissance Faire, Emily takes to the role like she never thought she would... besides the fact that she hates Simon, the leader / organizer / annoying boss man. Loved this book! It was cute and charming. Super quick and easy read. The author did a great job of capturing the setting and making you feel like you were at a Faire in the woods.

Underwhelming to say the least. Flat characters with cliche attempts at chemistry that didn’t translate as authentic in the least. Pacing far too slow.

In short: I don’t give a damn about renaissance fairs or this “romantic” story. 😒
