To be totally honest, I kind of lost interest in this one by the halfway mark.
TL; DR: Equal parts unrealistic and feels like a love story about young 20somethings written for teens. (but also please know: THE MALE LEAD IS NOT WHAT YOU SHOULD WANT IN A HUSBAND)

I think the issue is that I just didn't love the male lead. They meet once upon a late-night in Vegas - in the hotel hall, as she's been kept up by his and his friends' loud debauchery. I think the issue is that I just didn't love the male lead. They meet once upon a late-night in Vegas - in the hotel hall, as she's been kept up by his and his friends' loud debauchery. They sort of flirt for a few minutes, but she doesn't even tell him her name. The following night, she's in a bar with her friends and he comes up behind her and puts his hands on her hips. I mean, woah. Apparently they have a connection so we're supposed to find this dreamy, not creepy, and I'll admit I've got a couple years on recent college grad Mia. But feeling hands on my hips in a public location when I have no idea who's behind me touching me intimately? Not something I'm interested in.

That wasn't the only interaction that raised my haunches. Like I said, maybe I'd find all this endlessly romantic at 22. But instead this just seemed like your generic, garden variety insta-love romance with a little creepiness mixed in. Particularly disappointing when you consider the setting - Christina Lauren could have done a lot more with this one.

I didn't appreciate the times when he got bossy - when he's being bossy to her, I don't read that as him advocating for her...it feels like them being on different teams. You can encourage, support, and discuss alternative options with a woman without being argumentative. Again: This sort of behavior rings alarm bells for me now, when to be perfectly honest I don't think it would (or did) when I was a young adult. But now...ick.

Despite an entire summer together, it seemed like their only interactions were sex. Which, well, fun!, but also - how does that lead you to believe you're soulmates? That's not how it works. And the sex scenes weren't that great sooo I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend this one. ...more

While this wasn’t my favorite Christina Lauren book, it was a really fun read that captured my attention enough to buy the other three books in the series.

Three best friends go on a fun girls trip to Vegas after graduation and have a wild night with three international hotties. This book is book 1 of the Wild Seasons series which focuses on the relationship between Mia and Ansel. I really enjoy the older CLo duo’s earlier books with 🔥. Mia and Ansel really hits it off and they have a very passionate relationship. I enjoyed this book but felt that Mia was running away from her responsibilities and that annoyed me. I also do not love relationships that lack communications. Overall it is an entertaining read and I do look forward to reading the rest of the story. ⁣
