CLo does it againnnnn. This story about a second chance romance just absolutely stole my heart. The book is based around one couple, going back and forth between present and future and their path to love.

Christina Lauren does not disappoint! They are masters! I loved this book! It made me think what I could forgive and how one choice can forever change your life. I loved Elliot, he is so patient and knows what he wants. My heart broke for Macy, especially at the end. I love how they always ask each other their favorite word and how they had their own little space in her closet.

“What is your favorite word?”

That question was one the first that Elliot ever spoke to Macy as 13 year olds standing in an empty closet, that would soon become Macy reading room in her and her dad’s vacation home. That same question would be one that continued to come up over the years. It surfaced when one of them wanted to switch from one topic to another, in times of awkward silence or even in times filled with love. That same closet where they met, would become a bubble of sorts for Macy and “What is your favorite word?”

That question was one the first that Elliot ever spoke to Macy as 13 year olds standing in an empty closet, that would soon become Macy reading room in her and her dad’s vacation home. That same question would be one that continued to come up over the years. It surfaced when one of them wanted to switch from one topic to another, in times of awkward silence or even in times filled with love. That same closet where they met, would become a bubble of sorts for Macy and Elliot. It would be the place they read together, learn about each other, grow up and navigate through life while only seeing each other on the weekends and holidays. Words first drew them together, but ultimately, the lack of words caused them to drift apart.

Now 10 years later, and in their late 20s, Macy runs into Elliot while having coffee with a friend. She is a pediatric resident, currently engaged, and seemingly happy. But in a matter of moments those 10 years of silence quickly become overshadowed by all the memories and love from the years before them. So much has happened since they haven’t been apart of each others lives and so many words still haven’t been spoken. Just by seeing Elliot, Macy starts to question if she is happy, or if she ever has been. Then they both must decide if 10 years too long, or if there is still something tying them together, even after all this time.

This book was everything. I am at a loss for words, but I already want to reread it. The chapters alternate between then and now telling Macy and Elliot’s story. A story from the first page had me hooked and not wanting to stop reading until I was able to finish the book. Christina Lauren have an uncanny ability to draw you in and align you with not only one, but multiple characters in their books. I found myself feeling loneliness for Duncan, appreciation for Macy’s mom who we never officially meet, and cheering for love in all forms. From the first page CLo had me marking pages and underlining sentences and passages to go back and read again. This is a book I will return to read again! ...more

Now this book!! Omg all the stars!! I LOVED this book! It was everything I needed it to be. I needed something great to kick start my month and this book did not disappoint me. I cried real hard tears. I used to think that was strange, but I have been doing that a lot lately while reading and I think it’s because I have been reading some amazing books!!! If you are a romance reader for sure put this one on your list because, I know, we all need more books to add to our never ending #tbrpile!!
