Shacking Up by Helena Hunting follows Ruby and Bancroft. Ruby comes from family money but finds herself in a predicament when she decides to branch off on her own and pursue a career in theater. Bancroft, strung-out on too much cold medicine, is left reeling after he accidentally kisses the mystery brunette at the engagement party. They run into each other again at a dinner and before he knows it he's offering to let her pet sit for him and live in his apartment for the five weeks he's going to be traveling overseas. He's recently left playing rugby professionally and has joined the family's hotel management group in NYC. Ruby needs a place to stay and it's his fault she blew the audition by being sick after all... But the more time Ruby stays in his place the more he comes to enjoy the consistency and everything that she has to offer. Through long-distance video chats their continued dynamic is flaming with unresolved tension and both of them are dying to find out if there could be more to their arrangement after all...

I LOVED this one. The QUEEN Helena Hunting ALWAYS slays me. No one writes banter or builds tension quite like she does. She always has be laughing out loud. I listened to most of it on audio and this one has two of my favorite narrators! (They also narrate a few in the PUCKED series, which I'm also obsessed with!) I will eagerly be reading Hooking Up, Getting Down and I Flipping Love You before the releases of Making Up and Handle With Care this summer! 4.5 Stars. Shacking Up is a hot slooooooow burn with hilarious banter, one of my favorite Helena Hunting rom coms. It’s told from the dual POV of Ruby and Bancroft, with two narrators for the audiobook (both are great!), but the majority of the story is from Ruby’s POV. I liked that we got Bancroft’s POV, but wish there were more of him.⁣

This was the first book I read by Helena Hunting, and I was not disappointed. ⁣

I'm legitimately convinced that Helena Hunting can't write a bad book! This had some great banter, steamy moments, and some hilarious parts that actually made me laugh out loud. I loved the start of Ruby & Bancroft - the mysterious man who kissed her accidentally at a party & got her sick before a huge audition. Throw in some weird (yet adorable!) pets, lots of close proximity, an awkward employer/employee relationship, mixed with great conversations, and you've got a recipe for success. This is ...more

Helena Hunting has quickly become an autobuy author for me. She can pretty much write anything and I’ll want to read it! I feel in love with Bancroft. I love how protective he was without being super controlling. He genuinely cares for Ruby and any man that loves his pets as much as he does is already a winner in my opinion. I love that he has so much love for Francesca and Tiny. The banter and tension between Bancroft and Ruby is everything. This was a slower burn but it paid off in the end! If ...more

4 starts bc Bane is the swettheart and Ruby is the feisty one! That said, it was sooooo slow a burn, at some point I couldn't believe how slow it was (guess flirting at a distance does that to a relationship), and I didn't like the trope of getting to overcome the final ultimate obstacle before getting the HEA, but I guess I'm reading too many romances at the moment and I'm starting to see the cod moving.
