'The Blue Balloon', by Mick Inkpen, tells the story of a young boy and his energetic dog who go on an adventure and find a blue balloon. The balloon itself is unique, shifting into various forms that an ordinary balloon cannot. I believe the book would be suitable for children in EYFS and KS1 as it can be used as a resource to provide many creative opportunities in numerous subjects. For instance, one can demonstrate how a balloon stretches and gets bigger – the creative possibilities are endless! Overall, I enjoyed reading this text and consider the content to be enjoyable and an easy read for young children, encouraging them to be explorative, imaginative, and playful.
