This story is a about an old man and an old woman who decide to plant vegetable seeds on a Spring morning. Spring passes and Summer ripens the vegetables. When the time comes for the old man and the old woman to harvest the vegetables, they notice a gigantic turnip! To pull it out, the old man and the old woman need a lot of help!
This book could be used for a wide range of lessons for children between the ages of 4 and 6. It not only introduces children to a range of vegetables, numbers, seasons, months of the year and animals, it also highlights the benefits of teamwork and perseverance which would be great to discuss in a PSHE lesson.
