A lovely book by Roald Dahl. The book instantly takes the readers to Matilda’s frightening, but heart-warming adventure. A balance between wittiness and mystery is perfect to attract children’s attention to Matilda’s journey with Miss Honey. A familiar school setting allows children to easily empathise with Matilda and picture themselves in Matilda’s position. The book gives two messages to children – ‘let’s discover a love of books – welcome to a fascinating world!’ and ‘don’t give up, it is not the end of the world!’.
