This is a wonderful story, perfect during the current quarantine period, where a lonely Giraffe reaches out through letter writing to find a pen pal across the horizon, delivered via a pelican and seal, letters go back and forth between Giraffe and Penguin.

Yours sincerely, giraffe is recommended for ages 6-8. This is a funny story about a bored African Giraffe (I’m sure quite relatable to many children at the moment!), who writes a letter and sends it far away to a Penguin and they become pen pal friends. Giraffe knows nothing about penguins, and so his letters are full of questions. This would be a good choice to read as a class, as it has some lovely illustrations but also provides an opportunity for discussion about asking questions. This would

Suitable for key stage 1 - A story about a bored giraffe that decides to write a letter to whomever is on the other side of the horizon, which happens to be a penguin. The two animals quickly become pen pals and bring both joy and excitement to each other’s dull life. As they write back and forth, they try to understand what the other looks like but end up falling in a communication pitfall. It is a good story about the importance of dialogue and remaining hopeful, which can be used to introduce

I absolutely loved this book. It was a very simple read but very funny. A lovely story about a lonely giraffe who goes out of his ways to try and make a friend. A lovely lesson behind this story that you can always take action in your life. If you want to make a friend, you need to be a friend and put yourself out there. What the giraffe did, didn't just make him happy but it made everyone around him happy as well. Recommend this for Year 2-4. Also would be a lovely book to read to your class!

I absolutely adored this book - it's witty and clever, with some excellent moments. It's a very simple story about a bored giraffe who writes a letter and ends up with an unusual penpal. It's very well-written, and would be lovely to read out loud to children.

A beautifully illustrated book that tells the story of two separate lives that come together through letter writing. The book really encouraged questioning throughout not only for its characters but for the reader also. It would be a lovely book to introduce the power of letters and how everyone is different but that is what makes them so special.
