A beautiful adventure following a young girl called Marinka who lives with her grandmother, who is a Yaga. This means that she guides the dead and Marinka is expected to also become a Yaga, however she yearns for a very different life. This book explores concepts of family, destiny, choice and identity and is filled with many twists along the way. It is beautifully written, engaging and extremely thought provoking. This book told the story of a Girl, Marinka, and of her journeys with her house. Although the adventures focus on where the house moves to and her experiences in these different places, there are key themes of grief, acceptance and her journey of self-discovery. I thought that this was a really touching book and the writing style and creativity in the book was delightfully unique.
