[close] I chose this book after planning a series of lessons over Easter focusing on World War Two and was interested in finding a book that could be used as a class text to support this topic. For that purpose, I think this would be a great book to use, it included so many different details surrounding the war, including evacuees and rationing, and I really felt this books captured what it may have felt like to be a child during the war. Furthermore, I felt that the format of a diary would really help a class when developing empathy and could allow them to step into the main character's shoes. Additionally to this, I think this could be really useful for inspiring an extended piece of writing either about World War two or in the format of a diary entry.
