Whatever your taste in fiction, I strongly urge you to experience the vividness and beauty of Jeffrey Eugenides' writing. The literary setting of the story in the opening chapters reminded me how a good knowledge and understanding of literature were so sadly lacking in my own education, yet I found myself instantly caught up in this poignant story of relationships, friendships, family and other acquaintances. As for the characters in his previous book, Middlesex (which you must read if you haven't already), you'll wake up wanting to think they're all real and you got to know and understand them in your own personal way.
