I actually loved this book. It's VERY well-written, engaging, quick-paced, and has a lot of voice and characterization. Every character has an important part, and are well-developed, even the minor characters that don't make much of an appearance. The dialogue and mannerisms are captured incredibly well, and don't come off as saccharine or overdone.

This was a very good read. Different voices told the story of the Civil Rights era—some were older black women, some were young white women of privilege. All displayed courage in bringing change to their world. This was a demonstration of just how powerful the spoken and written world can be. The very act of telling their truth to each other was a brave act. I think we forget just what Jackson, Miss., was like in 1963. I loved the depth of these courageous women! It reminds us how far society has come and how much further we need to travel to find true humanity.
