I actually loved this book. It's VERY well-written, engaging, quick-paced, and has a lot of voice and characterization. Every character has an important part, and are well-developed, even the minor characters that don't make much of an appearance. The dialogue and mannerisms are captured incredibly well, and don't come off as saccharine or overdone.

I was taken with this book from the moment I started reading it. Stockett does a fantastic job of capturing the essence of race tensions and social divisions in the 1960's. Her pull from personal experience (growing up with a black maid in a similar time period and location) gave a realistic voice to the characters Aibileen and Minny. However, the focus of the book was not just on racial struggles, but also on class distinctions and women's struggles.

One of my friends suggested me to read this book. Actually, a more precise of way of putting it is that he saw his mother reading it and that she seemed to have enjoyed it and he thought I should give it a shot. Fair enough.

I absolutely loved this book. I read it in two days, and found myself thinking "omg, is it really 3 a.m.?" I couldn't help myself. I love the southern setting, and also the period. Overall a 5 star rating. Nice work.

I loved this book! I think that it is high time for historical fiction to make a comeback. Not only did this book reawaken my awareness of the Civil Rights Movement it also brought my attention to The Help we have today. Nobody really asks the maids, cleaners, or janitors in the 21st century what their opinion is on anything , when in reality, they probably have some of the most well rounded opinions and information on popular or controversial topics, just from listening to everyone else´s thoug

I loved the depth of these courageous women! It reminds us how far society has come and how much further we need to travel to find true humanity.
