I was forced to read a lot of Steinbeck in high school, which I didn't appreciate *as asshole high schoolers are wont to do*. I'm glad that I waited until now to read this, as I'm now at the proper level of maturity to engage with this novel as well as the copious political philosophies swirling through its narrative.
