This is one of the best fantasy books I have read it quite a long time. I have read two of Anne Bishops books last year and they were interesting but I did not realize her earlier work was so much better. I picked this up at the library and ended up pulling an all nighter to finish it. The story was very tangled at first and I could not hold my visualizations very well of how the magic works and the physical connection of the land these people inhabited. At some point, it started to make sense b

I was caught taken back at the lack of explination through out this book. Yet the strong beginning which was rather violent caught my interest which was continued throught out by the further violence and sexuality that emerged in the book. By the end of this book which I couldnt put down I wsa completely entranced by the story and had to go get the following two books just to find out what happened. Ann Bishop is a great writer and develops the lands in which her stories reside incredibly well.
